IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization)

Starting from: 2.500 €
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a procedure in which egg cells taken from a woman are fertilized with sperm cells taken from a man in a laboratory environment, and the resulting embryo is then transferred into the uterus. It is a modern assisted reproduction method that starts with the menstrual cycle and lasts approximately 15-20 days, planned individually for each person.

Highlights

Which Methods Are Used?

IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) is applied according to the fertilization of the ovaries using either classical IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) (IVF) or microinjection (ICSI) methods. The frequently preferred IVF method is generally used in cases where no problems are observed in sperm count and quality, and the sperm fertilizes on its own. In the ICSI method, the egg is prepared for injection and sperm is placed inside a single egg.

When Is It Applied?

For IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) to be applied, sexual intercourse must occur for at least 1 year without using birth control methods, and pregnancy must not occur during this period. This condition is also called infertility. If pregnancy does not occur during this period, IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) is applied.

Age Limit in IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization)

In women whose ovarian functions are found to be suitable through tests performed on the 3rd day of the menstrual period, IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) is applied up to the age of 45. At the same time, the suitability of embryos is also checked using the genetic diagnosis method. However, in women over 40 years of age, the success rate of this method is lower compared to younger women. In women, especially after the age of 35, the decrease in the number and quality of eggs also affects the chances of success.

What Is Assisted Hatching?

During IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment, although an embryo forms in some cases, pregnancy does not occur. This condition is usually caused by problems that occur during the embryo's attachment to the uterus. The assisted hatching method allows the embryo to break free from the membrane surrounding it (zona pellucida) and attach to the endometrium tissues. Holes are made in the membrane through chemical methods or laser technology to allow the embryo to break through this membrane. During this procedure, the embryo is stabilized but no damage is caused to the embryo.

What Is Insemination (IUI)?

Insemination, also known as Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), is the placement of sperm cells into the egg during the woman's ovulation or near ovulation period. Insemination is applied in cases of unexplained infertility and patients with early-stage endometriosis and vaginismus. However, insemination is also suitable in cases where sperm passage through the cervix is obstructed and in cases of premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction.

The Difference Between Insemination and IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization)

In some cases, the insemination method is preferred before applying IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment. Insemination is particularly at the forefront of appropriate treatment methods in infertility, also known as infertility. For insemination to be applicable, in addition to unexplained infertility in men, at least one fallopian tube must be open in women and severe endometriosis (such as chocolate cyst) disease should not be present. In men, the sperm count and quality should also not be very low.

What Is Microinjection (ICSI) Treatment?

In the classical IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) method (IVF), sperm and eggs are brought side by side and the sperm are expected to fertilize the egg. In the microinjection method, also known as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), a sperm cell taken into a glass needle is directly injected into the egg and fertilization is achieved. Microinjection applications are performed in cases of insufficient sperm count, abnormal motility, and when cells are unable to fertilize the egg.

What Is Drug-Free IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization)?

In classical IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment, hormone-containing injection therapy is applied to obtain more eggs and embryos. However, the ovarian capacity of some women is not sufficient to obtain many eggs. In cases where the number of ovaries is low and the success rate with hormone injections is low, a drug-free treatment method in which women's menstrual cycles are monitored is preferred. This method, which focuses on egg quality rather than egg quantity, either does not apply any medication to women or gives very low doses of hormones. The continuation of the procedures is similar to classical IVF; following the natural ovulation process, the egg that reaches the appropriate size is collected with a needle. After fertilization, the embryo is transferred to the uterus.

What Is the PRP Method?

PRP, also known as egg rejuvenation, is one of the relatively new methods. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), which means platelet-enriched plasma, is obtained from individuals' own blood and contains no additives. The PRP method is utilized particularly in cases where the chances of pregnancy are low due to various reasons. Platelet-rich plasma is applied to women's ovaries and activates stem cells. Because it is a painful procedure, it is usually performed under anesthesia, where a needle is used to enter through the vagina and PRP Injection is performed into the ovaries. Thus, it is aimed to increase ovarian functions. In older women with low ovarian reserve and individuals who have entered early menopause, PRP applications increase the chances of pregnancy.

Sperm Collection Procedures

Sperm is as important as eggs in achieving fertilization and obtaining quality embryos. In this sense, the stages of obtaining sperm are also one of the important stages of IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment.

What Is the Cost?

As of 2026 in Turkey, standard IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment (classical IVF/ICSI) ranges between an average of 2500 euros and 4000 euros. This fee does not usually include hormonal medications around 750-1250 euros, which vary depending on the patient's age and egg reserve, as well as additional laboratory procedures such as PGT (genetic screening) or embryo freezing.
Micro-TESE (surgical sperm retrieval), embryo freezing, PGT (preimplantation genetic screening) and special incubator systems increase the cost.

Is IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) with a Donor Performed in Turkey?

In Turkey, it is strictly legally prohibited to perform IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization) using egg, sperm or embryo donation (transfer).

Frequently Asked Questions

IVF Treatment How Long Does It Take?

It takes 18-20 days.

What Is the Success Rate of Treatment?

The success rate of IVF treatment varies according to many factors. However, in general, it is possible to mention a success rate of approximately one in three. The success rate in women under 30 years of age is 45-50%, while in advanced age it is around 15-20%. It is anticipated that with developing techniques in the coming periods, all IVF attempts will be successful.

How Many Times Is IVF Treatment Attempted?

There is no limit to the number of attempts for IVF treatment. If the woman's age and examination findings are suitable, and if the man has sperm cells, IVF can be attempted an unlimited number of times. This is because in IVF treatments performed for approximately 45 years worldwide, the medications used do not have an effect that increases the risk of uterine, breast, and ovarian cancer in women.
