What is PRP?

PRP, which stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, is a procedure in which a small amount of blood is taken from a person's body, the blood plasma is separated through a special process, and then re-injected into the body. It is a regenerative treatment method that utilizes and strengthens the natural growth factors found in our blood cells.

The obtained plasma is quite rich in cells called "platelets". Platelets, whose primary function in the body is to ensure blood clotting, play an important role in wound healing thanks to the growth factors they contain.

With PRP treatment, it is possible to treat certain diseases in the body and rejuvenate the skin using the person's own blood. In PRP treatment, where the person's own blood is used instead of medication, cell renewal that is slowed down especially by environmental and genetic factors is prevented. PRP is used in hair loss, skin rejuvenation, pain treatment, and treatment of many orthopedic diseases.
Which Diseases is PRP Treatment Used For? :: PRP treatment, in which cells called platelets play the leading role, has found applications in many medical specialties. Today, PRP is used in non-healing leg wounds due to diabetes and varicose veins, in tendon injuries and tendinitis such as tennis elbow, and to accelerate the wound healing process after dental implants.

Due to age and environmental factors, aging skin undergoes many visible changes. The skin's elasticity decreases, wrinkles increase, and sagging appears on the skin. All of these are caused by the reduction in and deterioration of collagen and elastin fibers in the skin.

With anti-aging PRP treatment, the goal is to increase the production of collagen and elastin fibers in the skin thanks to the growth factors contained in platelets.

Through the PRP procedure, with 3-4 sessions performed at intervals of approximately 2-4 weeks, completely natural rejuvenation is achieved without administering any foreign substances or medications to the body. Those who undergo PRP notice improvement in the dry and dull appearance of their skin from the first sessions onward. With subsequent treatments, those who undergo PRP experience lightening of wrinkles and increased skin elasticity.
What is Aimed for with PRP? :: To give the skin elasticity and shine
To prevent hair loss and strengthen hair
To prevent wrinkles and depressions
To restructure the skin in wounds, cracks, and skin damage
To allow the skin to reconstruct rapidly after procedures such as laser
It is used in medical aesthetics in areas such as the face, hands and arms, inner thighs, neck and décolletage
PRP brings a non-surgical solution to Achilles tendon rupture.
The PRP method is also used for pain.
Many PRP applications are performed by physicians through application kits produced by biotechnology companies.
How is PRP Applied? :: PRP procedure is a treatment method that must be applied by specialist doctors. First, blood taken from the patient is placed in a special tube under sterile conditions. Subsequently, the blood is placed in a tube containing gel. The materials in the blood in the centrifuged tube are separated within 5-8 minutes. The plasma part of the blood rich in platelets and growth factors is separated. The obtained mixture is applied to the relevant area using the injection method.

PRP is applied at intervals of 2-4 weeks for an average of 3-4 sessions, combined with Mesotherapy according to the person's needs. After the PRP course is completed, the procedure can be continued with injections 1-2 times per year.
How is Hair Treatment Performed with PRP? :: Loss of 100-150 hairs daily is considered normal. If it exceeds this, hair loss should be taken seriously. PRP provides successful results in hair treatment as well. Particularly, it has been determined that patients obtain quite effective results in hair loss. During the PRP procedure, the patient's own blood is taken and passed through a device. Here, the portion that will nourish the roots called platelets and ensure their development is separated and injected into the area of loss. This method is particularly effective in genetic hair loss. Hair Mesotherapy can also be applied in combination with PRP for those with genetic hair loss.

In PRP application for hair, 10 cc of venous blood is first taken from the patient (about 1/10 of a tea cup). The centrifuged blood is divided into two parts: white and red blood. Red blood contains white blood cells, platelets, clotting factors, and PGF (Platelet Growth Factor). After the red blood is subjected to a special process, it is injected into the thinning area using the nappage method. The basis of this application is tissue renewal. While PRP hair treatment takes about 30 minutes, there is no pain during the procedure. After PRP, there is no scarring and the person can immediately resume their routine life.
How Long Does Hair Treatment with PRP Take? :: Hair treatment with PRP is applied on average every 15 days in a maximum of 30 minutes and generally takes 3-4 months. After that, application once a year will be sufficient. The most important advantage of this method is that the special plasma is obtained from the patient's own blood and carries no allergy risk.
How is the Skin Rejuvenation Method with PRP Applied? :: Skin aging results from the loss of certain characteristics, just as in the wound healing process. In skin rejuvenation methods, various methods used while healing wounds are imitated. The structure most capable of repairing skin damage in the most effective, fastest, and most natural way is again a part of the whole to which the skin belongs. For this reason, PRP has been developed as a method that activates this magical power circulating in our blood vessels.

Skin rejuvenation with PRP can be considered for various parts of the body such as the face, neck, décolletage, hands, inner thighs, and arms. Particularly, it is possible to enable the skin to reconstruct rapidly immediately after procedures such as laser and peeling.

In skin exposed to UV rays, it is possible to eliminate wrinkles, spots, and depressions. Restoring elasticity and shine to the skin is also one of the most important results of skin rejuvenation with PRP. Additionally, the healing of long-lasting wounds in the body and conditions where skin quality is damaged, such as cracks, can be controlled with PRP.
How Many Sessions Does Skin Rejuvenation with PRP Take? :: PRP, which provides rejuvenation by injecting the person's own blood back into their own body, can take 3-4 sessions at intervals of approximately 2-4 weeks. The most distinctive feature of the PRP method is that it provides completely natural rejuvenation without administering any foreign substances or medications to the body.

Thanks to PRP, from the first sessions onward, the dry and dull appearance of the skin is first corrected. Subsequently, lightening of wrinkles and increased skin elasticity are observed. PRP does not only serve to alleviate signs of aging. At the same time, it slows down the aging process, essentially providing a "youth vaccine" effect. For this reason, it is a method that any adult who wishes to slow down the aging process without waiting for signs of aging can resort to.
How Long Does the Effect of PRP on the Skin Last? :: The shiny and healthy skin appearance that emerges after PRP may fade after some time. For this reason, it should be supplemented with additional skin rejuvenating applications. After 3 or 4 courses of PRP treatment, repeating the courses every 10-12 months makes the rejuvenation effect almost permanent.
What is the Role of PRP in Pain Treatment? :: PRP is a sample taken from a person's own blood that has been enriched in proteins and growth factors through certain processes. Growth factors and proteins are substances that reduce inflammation and pain and help tissue healing. With PRP treatments, successful results can be obtained in musculoskeletal injuries and inflammatory diseases. PRP can be utilized in the treatment of shoulder pain, anterior cruciate ligament injuries, joint osteoarthritis, and ankle sprains. In PRP treatment, the liquid obtained by separating a sample taken from the patient's own blood is applied as serum to the painful or sensitive area.

Since proteins and growth factors activate silent local stem cells, the plasma liquid acts like a natural medication, accelerating the healing of structures such as tendon cartilage where injury and damage have occurred.
What are the Most Common Areas Where PRP is Used in Pain Treatment? :: Knee Osteoarthritis
Hip Joint Osteoarthritis
Shoulder Pain,
Tennis Elbow, Golfer's Elbow,
Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries; knee shoulder,
Ankle Sprains,
Heel Spur,
Treatment of muscle tightness known as cramping pain…
Does PRP Have Side Effects? :: In the area where PRP treatment is applied, small swelling, pain, and bruising can occur at the sites where the injection is placed. Care must be taken to ensure that the area where the treatment is performed is sterile to prevent infection. However, these side effects are not very common, and since they are the patient's own cells, they do not cause any unwanted effects. Those using blood thinners, those with a history of cancer, those with various blood diseases, those with infection or inflammation in the area where PRP will be applied, and pregnant and breastfeeding women should not undergo PRP. After PRP treatment, it is also recommended not to bathe on the first day and to protect oneself from the sun.
How is Knee Osteoarthritis Treated with PRP? :: PRP is commonly used in knee osteoarthritis. Knee cartilage wears away due to age, trauma, and various other causes. This wear initiates an inflammatory process. The factors causing inflammation lead to pain and swelling in the knee joint, accelerating cartilage erosion and leading to osteoarthritis. Proteins and growth factors applied to the knee with PRP reduce this inflammatory process, preventing cartilage breakdown and increasing healing. PRP applications increase patient comfort.
How Does PRP Affect IVF Treatment (In Vitro Fertilization)? :: PRP is applied by injecting the precipitate prepared after the patient's own blood undergoes a special separation process into both ovarian tissues under ultrasound guidance. The ovarian tissue's response generally begins to appear three months after the procedure. After PRP treatment, although pregnancies have been achieved in some patients with hopeless or extremely poor ovarian responses, beyond obtaining eggs, there is as yet insufficient data to confirm that the PRP method provides statistically significant success in IVF treatment areas.
